Each student will have at least one year of music, theater, visual art or art history. This artistic experience will be guided by gifted faculty in our state of the art facilities. Over 100 boys, a third of the school, are involved at any one time in the Visual Arts from 7th to 12th grade. Teachers with professional experience in their medium guide the students on projects in a step by step manner, providing both a classical artistic foundation and the freedom to explore. The studios and dark room are open in the afternoons, evenings, and on weekends with all the materials accessible for student to use. The Art Studios at T-P are not just for the select few either, but they are places where every boy can develop the visual skills so important in seeing and understanding the world in which he lives.
The TP Drama Society produces three major upper school plays each year. All students have an opportunity to perform in the plays, as rehearsals take place at night. The Trinity-Pawling Theater Department is committed to introducing students to all aspects of stagecraft and to the joy and sweat of theater by producing comedies, dramas, and musicals that are classic and fun. Students are instrumental in the technical aspects of the theater as well, helping to build the sets, hang and operate the lights, and run the flies. Most terms, there is a small stage crew that takes on these technical tasks during sports period, however there are always enough tasks for anyone who wants to participate.
TP has always valued the important role athletics play in the development of each student. T-P believes that participation in sports teaches lessons that can be applied in life. Discipline, sacrifice, teamwork, friendships and memories of rivalries, league championship games and buzzer beaters will stay with our boys forever. 13 varsity teams, T-P's league competitors, all of which are in New England, include Avon, Kent, Hotchkiss, Loomis, Choate, Taft, Kingswood-Oxford and Westminster.
