Camden has roots dating back to the Revolutionary War, historic antebellum homes and charm that remains unique in South Carolina. The city is less than 1.5 hour from the state capital, Columbia. Charlotte, NC, one of America's fastest growing cities, is only 90 miles away. CMA is situated in the Midlands of South Carolina making a day trip to the coast or mountains around a 2 hour drive. Camden is also known as the "Steeplechase Capital of the World" due to the fact that Camden holds the world record for the most spectators to ever a witness a steeplechase event--70,000+ people! The community has a flourishing equine community and hosts several equine events throughout the year including both the Carolina and Colonial Cups, polo matches and numerous horse shows at the South Carolina Equine Center. Nearest airport is Columbia SC (CAE) and Charlotte, NC(CLT), 1hour drive.
The campus is composed of fourteen buildings. There are three academic buildings and the Cline Library dedicated to academic pursuits. Housed in these buildings are all classrooms, a computer lab, and a science lab. The Cline Library houses the school’s 9,000-volume collection as well as periodicals and computer information services.
The Academy’s 350-seat dining hall allows for family-style meals, the entire cadet corps eats at one time. The modern infirmary, resident nurses, and school physician meet all cadet medical needs. The gym complex houses the gym, dressing rooms, and shower facilities for all athletic teams as well as the school’s band room. There are 3 tennis courts, a swimming pool, 3 athletic fields, and a state-of-theart track complex that features one of the nation’s premier running tracks.
